This style of Japanese puppetry entails stagehands dressed all in black, manipulating both props and characters to create the illusion that camera angles and perspectives are changing.
Despite what you¹re seeing (or what you think you're seeing), we assure you that this video was filmed all in one take, no editing, no camera movement, no slow-motion or special effects (well, truth be told there IS one special effect, see if you can spot it!)

breaking news! anna nicole smith passed away today at the age of 39 down in hollywood florida...gosh i'm in such shock - i'll be back in a few with more details...holy fucking shit! ok details are still pretty sketchy but this article just got published...apparently they found her unresponsive in her hotel room and she was quickly rushed to the hospital but efforts to revive her were fruitless...oh man this is a such a sad ending to her wild ways & lifestyle!
as much as i'm shocked right now in the moment - it actually doesn't suprise me at all - oh man this is terrible! at least now she can be reunited with son daniel but now baby dannielynn hope has no mother and who even knows who the father is?!? i wonder what anna had whipped up in terms of her final will & testament...i'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more about this story in the next few days! i've always been a fan of hers and this past year things got really weird & bizarre but she will certainly be missed...popbytes over & out for now - xxoo!

Have you ever had an epiphany at, like, 3am in the morning? Well, a couple of nights ago I was listening to a bootleg remix I'd gotten of Barracuda from Heart (one of my fave 70's rock tracks). Immediately, Madonna popped into my head, and that was it - I got completely hung up and hellbent on mashing them together. This one's a nice stomper for the clubs, y'all!
good evening! i'm still a little peeved that STAR magazine went after my darling angelina jolie's weight this week...the scan below is where they did the past vs. now comparison! the magazine claims ms. jolie has lost twelve pounds in time spanning...six years! come on...comparing a picture from back in '01 to an '07 picture is completely ridiculous! plus her outfits are totally different - right now i'm totally standing by my angelina - she's one of my favorite people ever! (yes popbytes is a broken record - i play for team aniston too) did anybody think that maybe her moody ways on the red carpet at the golden globes was due to the fact that her mother was near death's door?
that's one thing i always try to keep in mind with dealing with just about anybody...no one really knows what anyone is going through at any given time - i've had plenty of times while blogging that i've had to deal with a shit situation and never let on! i don't feel like going all deep here & now but sometimes i think to myself tara reid and/or jessica simpson...they're real people too - just like you and me! ok i went slightly deep...thank heavens i didn't bring paris hilton into the deep thought club tonight! hey y'all! has anyone else been watching i love new york over on VH1? i was so excited for this spin-off show and i thought it'd be much better than flava flav's show flavor of love but i was oh so wrong! i think i prefer to watch women duke it out over one man - seriously there's nothing better than a good lady cat fight...that spitting incident still goes down as one of the best moments ever on 'reality' TV! (sadly the clip is gone from youtube) what does everyone else think...'flavor' or 'new york'?

hey kids!!! so last night was lily allen's first night of her MTV discover & download tour which kicked off in los angeles over at the henry fonda theater which is fairly close to my humble abode! (that venue's sound was questionable - lily deserves good acoustics) i met up with some great friends (hi to vanessa, joey, tatiana, and DJ paul v.!) plus fellow pop blogger lisa timmons was there from the always lovely a socialite's life (read her review) overall i had a great time but there were a few issues...including having to put my camera back in the car!
now let me start off with i completely love & adore ms. allen but she really took her time coming to the stage - we nabbed great spots around 8pm and she didn't play until about 10:30!!! it was packed to the brim - i don't think another person could have fit in the venue plus it was super hot...there was no AC anywhere to be felt! even lily was sweating her ass off - everyone was quite (really) uncomfortable! especially after standing in the same spot for such a long time i grew quite restless and finally about midway through lily's set i turned to lisa and was like i need to move out of this crowd which was the best thing i could have done (popbytes fainting at a lily concert would be so not cool)
of course i can't help but compare the show to my first time seeing ms. allen play live back in october at the trobadour (read my review) i much preferred the first time around but it was so neat to see how lily has grown pretty comfortable with performing - she was relaxed and really playful and seemed to be enjoying herself a lot! the crowd was totally eating her perfomance up although i think everyone felt the same way i did - it was too hot and crowded but i'd see her again in a heartbeat!
in closing i'll admit that i've been completely obsessed for months over lily allen (this marks my 15th post on her - oh my word!) i've played her album alright, still what seems like a thousand times (1001...since i'm listening to her right now) but for right now i need to chill out - i don't want to grow sick of her and i'm going to let everyone else discover ms. allen for themselves - i can't wait until she releases her sophomore album! finally i must mention the incredible gal who first turned me onto lily (plus we totally bonded over her) my dear friend victoria who has spearheaded the promotion of lily like no one else! Sweden's Peter Bjorn And John seem to have an endless vat of sparkling melodies at their disposal. The whistle-laden "Young Folks" is quite possibly the catchiest and most captivating pop song you'll hear all year. The track features bongos, shakers, and a bassline that would make The Partridge Family Band proud. Having already garnered acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, it was named one of the top 5 songs of 2006 by Pitchfork and the NME.
